ABOUT

Stephanie is a reporter and content coordinator at 630 CHED/Global in Edmonton. She worked as a multimedia journalist at CFJC-TV in Kamloops after graduating from the Television Broadcasting program at the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology in Edmonton. In 2016, Stephanie graduated from Victoria School of the Arts and went straight to Macewan University for a diploma in Theatre Arts. After graduating, she started to get more involved with current events and was inspired to get into the news industry during this time. She finally started the NAIT TV program in January 2020 and started writing for the NAIT Nugget where she became the assistant entertainment editor.

When the pandemic moved school online, Stephanie decided she would rather try to gain some industry experience. She took an internship at CBC Edmonton in the marketing department and had a blast helping to execute the annual Make the Season Kind holiday campaign. She also spent this time writing freelance articles for Paper Plane, Rewire.org and the Disabled Writers Blog.

During her time at NAIT, she originated the video journalist role at the Nugget and then took over as the head of news. She was nominated by her classmates for the Ernie Poscente Memorial Merit Scholarship — an award given to a student showing exemplary work ethic, leadership and talent in broadcasting.

Stephanie started an internship at CFJC-TV in Kamloops in January 2022 and was hired on as a full-time multiplatform reporter six weeks later. Stephanie is curious and enjoys deep dives into many topics, from transit (her favourite thing to write about) to niche subcultures (like downhill longboarding or roller derby) to urban planning (never ask her what the construction on Jasper Ave is for, unless you have 45 minutes to listen to her talk). When not chasing the latest news, you can find her rollerskating, knitting or cuddling her two cats, Juno and Pepper.
